Gifts From 2002 to rekindle fond memories

2002 saw the continued involvement of US troops in Afghanistan, an occupation that would last until 2021. President George Bush also included Iran, Iraq and North Korea in his so-called “Axis of Evil”, depicting said nations as allegedly sponsoring terrorism and seeking out weapons of mass destruction.

In the public sphere, the TV talent show was revolutionised via phone voting, as almost 9 million people voted in the final of the first series of Pop Idol. Serena Williams defeated her sister Venus to win the first of her (to date) seven Wimbledon titles. 2002 also saw the death of the Queen Mother, just four months shy of her 102nd birthday.

Two newspapers

Two newspapers, which I needed for research purposes, arrived promptly and are very useful. I keep all the clippings in a beautiful red box which I ordered with my first purchase from Historic Newspapers. As long as you have a specific date, you can order any newspaper you want; and it arrives quickly with a certificate of authentication (I keep all the certificates in my box too).
