If you struggle to find the right words to express your feelings about someone’s big day, tell them with a gift. But, with every gift comes a card so that the soon-to-be-newlyweds know who to thank. Strictly speaking, there are no rules about what to write in the card. But it’s important to keep in mind your wedding thank you card wording.

First Things First, Do I Even Have to Give a Card?

If you’re planning on attending the wedding, whether it’s the ceremony or the evening-do, a wedding card is a part of the standard wedding guest etiquette. You wouldn’t go to a birthday party without a present, so you can’t attend a wedding without an obligatory card.

If you’re stuck for inspiration about the present too, why not opt for something from our personalised wedding gifts? If it’s personalised, you can guarantee that no other wedding attendees and yourself will clash on the same wedding gift.

Also, Should I Really Say “Congratulations”?

congratulations

Hang on, why would I not congratulate the happy couple with the staple “congratulations? Well, it turns out that there is an issue with this seemingly harmless phrase. Back in ye olden times, the term “congratulations” was used to commend a woman for landing a husband. *gasp!*

Thankfully, in our more educated society, the old associations with the word has fallen out of fashion. But it’s an important point to consider for the couple getting hitched. If they are older, they may regard “congratulations” in the dated view from yesteryear. So, if you want to avoid the mishap altogether, stick with “best wishes”.
